You are your own Superhero

Every human being, regardless of their gender is indisputably their own hero – something they should admit and feel proud of! We always have a particular person or set of people in our lives to whom we look up to – be it our parents, siblings, friends, associates, celebrities or just a random soul. What we must bear in mind and intend to do is appreciate and get stimulated by them, but never to a level that you declare them as your hero or idol. I may be at odds with plenty of thought-processes by saying this, but I truly feel that one should learn to acknowledge their own worth – to recognize that the only living soul they need to look up to is no other but their own self. To admire others is appreciable; you grasp and pick up from that, in fact, for that matter, I feel each one of us should appreciate each other.

But have you ever thought why you opt to do that? Why you follow a specific person and look up to them? Do you really feel motivated? Majority of public falls for objective details and physical appearances, stationed on how a person carries and functions himself, which matters, but does it really matter is worth thinking about! Without denying, every one of us at one point or another have ogled a famous personality/celebrity and uttered, “I wish I was like him/her”.  We also know the answer to why we react that way, don’t we? The fame – the fortune are aspects we all strive for. Who doesn’t yearn to be famous and get a grab of a super calm and luxurious life? All of us want to get recognized and witness the crowd going crazy on seeing us sharing the same space as them. But as the saying goes, ‘all that glitters is not gold’ – all the glam, the fame will tone down with time; rare are those who lead a smooth, happy life with no hardships and miseries!

For me, I feel one must experience both, ups and downs, joy and sorrow, peak and downfall – for what is life if you haven’t savored a morsel of every emotion! It’s such a waste to breathe a life that has no ebb and flow, and to wish for the same is a bubble that needs to be popped. Following a trail spotted by some other will not guarantee to lead you to their same wonderland destiny. Be strong, awaken yourself – make your own way; if you won’t begin now, how will you ever discover your purpose in life? It’s reasonably philosophical to say that we have one life and we should make the best out of it – but yes, isn’t that the ultimate truth? No matter how much we refute and crib, we actually have only one life, let’s mark our own identity, let’s be the one that others can look up to, let’s just be our own hero!

Ibn Taymiyyah, the Islamic scholar quoted ‘Don’t depend too much on anyone in this world because even your own shadow leaves you when you are in darkness’ – to think about this is rather depressing and is possible probably in the worst case scenario, as deep down we are always certain that our closed one’s are always there to support us. What we only need to repeat to ourselves is that we are our own defender, our own destiny and our own defeat – no situation can ever dictate and win over us without our own consent; never ever depend on others for your survival – you are your Superhero – it’s your life, step up, enwrap your cape and own the world!

  1. A really great and inspiring post! It is definitely true that even if we have people around us that we look up to, it is still ourselves and our own opinion and attitude that matters the most. It is YOUR life and no one else’s, so we definitely need to take ownership of it and become our own superheroes!

    A true post.
The only thing I want to include is an ‘Idol’ is someone whose qualities tempt us, make us to attain them.
An idol should be someone who motivates you in a right way. Admiring someone for looks is fine, but that shouldn’t lead in making them an idol for you.
Choose an Idol who asks you to be a better person, from inside.

But yes, don’t try to become like someone, as she already mentioned. Be yourself, just look onto others for becoming a better YOU. 🙂
